How Pillingers Hire Helped Bring Parramatta Lanes 2025 to Life

Each spring, the heart of Western Sydney transforms into a creative wonderland as Parramatta Lanes returns to the city streets. Running across multiple precincts from October 17–26, 2025, this award-winning festival reimagines the urban landscape with street art, live music, pop-up bars, and diverse food experiences—and once again, Pillingers Hiring Service played a major role in making it all happen. This is how Pillingers Hire helped bring Parramatta Lanes To Life.
This year’s event spanned some of Parramatta’s most iconic sites, including Parramatta Square, Centenary Square, Eat Street Carpark, Erby Place, Auctioneer Lane, and St John’s Cathedral Lawn, each transformed into a vibrant hub of entertainment and community spirit.
Building the Festival Foundation

Behind every colourful laneway and glowing pop-up bar lies a backbone of careful planning and precision infrastructure. Pillingers Hire provided the essential structures, flooring, furniture, lighting, and staging that transformed the cityscape into a cohesive multi-venue experience.
At Parramatta Square and Town Hall, teams installed a network of 3 m × 3 m and 3 m × 6 m steeple marquees, each tailored for food vendors and service stalls. Weighted for safety and built with professional flooring and wall panels, these structures created seamless vendor zones capable of withstanding Sydney’s unpredictable spring weather. Complementing them were banner poles, block-out walls, and event flooring to keep everything looking sharp and uniform.
Across Centenary Square, a 6 m × 6 m stage pavilion became a central performance space, complete with 26 sqm of scaffold staging, black stage surrounds, and a fully covered roof system with lighting. This stage supported the live acts and DJ sets that define Parramatta Lanes’ upbeat atmosphere.
Lighting, Staging, and Set Design

When night fell, the true magic appears. Pillingers supplied dozens of marquee light leads and globes, fluorescent tubes, and extension cabling to illuminate each laneway with a warm and inviting glow. Every corner—from Eat Street to George Street—was safely lit for both performers and festivalgoers, allowing visitors to wander, dance, and dine well into the evening.

For the entertainment hubs such as Bar 30 & Phillip Street and Auctioneer Lane, Pillingers designed covered stage pavilions using a mix of 4 m × 3 m and 6 m × 3 m structures. These hosted DJs, live music, and art projections, complete with tranStage platforms, stairs, and safety surrounds, ensuring professional presentation and accessibility.

Creating Comfort and Connection

While the big stages grab attention, the comfort of festivalgoers is just as important. Across multiple sites, Pillingers provided:
- Over 500 chairs, including stylish Tolix stools, Wenge cross-back chairs, and classic barrel chairs
- More than 100 tables, from 1.8 m banquet tables to 90 cm café tables and timber bar tables
- Pro-flooring and rubber matting to protect surfaces and create smooth, accessible walkways

At the Eat Street Carpark rooftop, visitors relaxed under glowing canopies surrounded by café-style seating and pop-up tapas bars. In Leigh Memorial Church Carpark, the elevated stage and black-skinned structures provided an intimate backdrop for local acoustic acts and food vendors.

Even the details were considered—banner poles for signage, concrete weights for stability, and carpet rubber mats beneath every structure to keep the festival safe and secure across varying terrains.
Working with the City of Parramatta

Coordinating across so many active city sites requires precision and reliability. With bump-ins beginning 16 October and bump-outs extending through 28 October, Pillingers’ logistics team worked hand-in-hand with Parramatta City Council to ensure seamless delivery, setup, and removal without disrupting the busy CBD environment.

Each site—whether Erby Place’s rooftop, UNE Carpark, or the bustling Macquarie Street corridor—received tailored infrastructure to meet its specific needs. The result was a citywide experience that balanced creativity, community, and operational excellence.

The Hidden Heroes of Large Events

While visitors marvelled at the food, art, and entertainment, much of Pillingers’ best work happened quietly behind the scenes.
- Risers and scaffold platforms were strategically placed for media crews, providing the perfect vantage points to capture the buzz of each evening.
- Tables and chairs supported pop-up dining zones, VIP lounges, and volunteer rest areas—adding both practicality and aesthetic polish.
- Safety and power management, including extension leads, fluorescent lighting, and secure weight systems, ensured that everything ran without interruption.
