The Hunter Valley, located north of Sydney in New South Wales, is one of the major wine regions in Australia, with a wine culture dating back to the early 1800s. Known for varieties such as Semillon and Shiraz, it’s home to many wineries, ranging from world-renowned brands to family-run boutique operations. Most are located south of the Hunter River and offer cellar door wine tastings and vineyard tours.

This area is stunning and offers some of the greatest events in NSW. There is always something happening in the Hunter Valley and it pays to know where and when these events are taking place. Here are just a couple of the events that Pillingers Hire is proud to have featured on our site.

Spring Festival

There are over 250,000 annuals planted throughout Hunter Valley Gardens along with fabulous entertainment, activities, attractions, demonstrations, talks, tours and workshops. This event provides a stunning viewing and hands on experience for all visitors.

Spring Festival is an event designed to immerse visitors in a visual and sensory experience they will never forget. Check the Hunter Valley Gardens website closer to the date for prices, more information and a full program.

Moon festival

During September The Magnificent Moon Festival will be held in Australia's famous wine region - The Hunter Valley. This new Hunter Valley Moon Festival will be a four-day event with the theme of 'Moon Seven Stars" and the largest Lantern festival ever held in Australia.

Come and see the "Moon Palace" located on the grass-land of the Hope Estate. Here you will be entertained by many authentic performances such as the world first LED lion dance, Cantonese Opera, Kung Fu and Tai Chi demonstrations. The Lion Dance will launch at the Moon Palace at Hope Estate and then dance over all Seven Stars venues, spreading the wealth, the luck and health throughout the Hunter Valley.

There is fun for the whole family with ways to get involved and participate in great event like the two Design your own Lantern competition and the always adorable, Miss Moon Princess Pageant held for girls 15 years and under. Check out this link for more info.

Hunter Wine Markets

Hunter Wine Country Markets is held every Saturday. It is a boutique handmade market showcasing local artisans.

Stalls include fashion, food, jewelry, local produce, handmade soaps, candles, woodwork, pottery and much more. They are located at De Bortoli Wines in Pokolbin.

Laguna Markets

Held on the third Sunday of the month, The Laguna Markets are one of the greatest gatherings in the Hunter Valley. This event is held at the Great Northern Trading Post and offers local providers and artists the opportunity to share their products and creations. This is the best place to see and be seen while getting the very best in local products. The Laguna Markets are truly a great community event where you can find anything from a haircut to handmade jewelry, all while sampling some of the areas greatest local foods and wines.
