Wedding Beauty Secrets: Sydney Brides Stay Picture Perfect From Start to Finish

December 14, 2013 by In House Marketing

Bashful bride with white bouquet

The process from engagement to The Big Day feels like a very long, tedious race – a marathon of sorts. Picking out wedding invitations, a dress, the cake, the venue – that’s the bit you jog through, saving your energy (if you’re lucky). Then there’s the wedding day – that’s the sprint to victory. It’s a whirlwind of a day; full of your loved ones, nuptials, nibbles and everything else that comes with it. It’s busy and it’s probably going to get a bit messy. Your makeup, let’s be honest, isn’t likely to last the journey, especially what with all the smiling, kissing and crying that occurs throughout the day. However, with a bit of help throughout the day, you’ll stay picture-perfect from the ceremony to the end of the reception. Here are a few of our tips to help you put your best bridal face forward:

Consider the wedding’s colour scheme first when deciding on makeup

This is a vital key to consider long before the day is upon you. Depending on the theme of the wedding, you’re going to want to complement, not contrast your surroundings. It’s surprisingly easy to get carried away with all the frills involved with deciding on your wedding makeup, but take it easy on the plum lipstick if the colours around you are peachy, yellow hues. Have a long talk with your makeup artist (if you have one) and ask for their advice.

Leave as much time as possible on the big day to get hair and makeup done

The best way to avoid constant touch-ups throughout the day is to make sure that it gets done perfectly to begin with. This means having as much time as is humanly possible before the ceremony to arrange and set every follicle of hair and to clean and make up your face perfectly without the added stress of needing to be somewhere in an hour.

Prime, prime, prime

Priming is absolutely essential to reduce your makeup wearing off throughout the day. For some of you, this may already be a part of your regular routine but you’d be surprised to know how few people actually do this. Once you’ve cleansed and moisturised, priming helps to prepare your face for make up and to hold it there once it has been applied.

Blot it

Throughout the day, you are going to have your loved ones hugging and kissing you in congratulations. Even if you wanted to avoid it, let’s be honest – you’re not going to be able to dodge an overwhelmed mother or aunt. If it so happens that your makeup gets spoiled in the moment, keep some blotting paper in your bag, then dab it on the spoiled part to remove the stain. Once most of the stain is removed, apply concealer.
